Mirabella OlszewskiMirabella Olszewski is a user experience designer for the University of Michigan Cancer Center Informatics (CCI) core. This work includes creating Tableau dashboards for Cancer Center administration, analyzing Cancer Center workflows and recommending center-wide solutions, and developing user-centered interfaces that support cancer research efforts. Mirabella transitioned to this position after earning her master's from the University of Michigan School of Information, where she specialized in Human Computer Interaction.
Prior to enrolling at University of Michigan, Mirabella worked for Michigan State University as a graphic and web designer. Mirabella received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Herron School of Art and Design, specializing in Visual Communication, and minored in Business at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. Shiqing (Licia) HeLicia He is a PhD student at the University of Michigan, School of Information. Graduated with double major in studio art and computer science, she works in the intersection of visual art and technology.
While focusing on information visualization research, she also conducts projects and research in design study, game, and generative art. She is a recipient of 2014 Thomas J. Watson Fellowship and has participated in art projects/residencies worldwide. She has experience as a GSI for the Information Visualization course for master students. Christopher Gardner
Christopher Gardner works in Business Intelligence at the University of Michigan. His main responsibilities include maintenance of the data reporting systems in the university, including Business Objects, MReports, and primarily Tableau. Christopher is one of the application administrators for the Tableau server on campus. He helps maintain security, updates, performance, and organization of the server. He also develops Tableau reports within Information Quest for various units/departments within the university.
Prior to his work in Information Quest, Christopher developed and deployed the digital signage service across campus. He also worked as a desktop support supervisor for the School of Social Work for 13 years. He has a bachelors in actuarial mathematics from U of M and a web design/developer certification from WCC.

Matthew Pickus
Matthew Pickus is a Business Intelligence Analyst that has worked in BI for over 7 years, the last 5 at the University of Michigan. He started in the Office of University Development building and maintaining Tableau and SAP Business Objects reports and dashboards. Currently, he works in Information Quest as a BI analyst building Tableau reports for multiple units and administrators at the University. Prior to Michigan he spent 13 years consulting to small businesses and venture capital firms. He has an MBA from Cornell University, and an MS (Public Health/Environmental Health Sciences) and BS (Natural Resources) from the University of Michigan. He is certified as a Tableau Desktop 10 Qualified Associate, and has spoken at Tableau Conference (TC15), AIRForum, and HEDW Conferences.

Patrick Franklin
Patrick Franklin is a Business Intelligence professional with 15+ years of experience in BI, with the last 9 years at the University of Michigan. In his current role, he works with the Information Quest team in ITS, guiding dashboard development and organizing projects with University partners in the BI space. Notable projects to date in this role include: The University Metrics project for the President and Regents and Michigan Metrics for the school and college deans and senior budget administrators.
In his previous work, he held the title of Assistant Director of Reporting and Information Analysis in the Office of University Development. In that role, he developed numerous management-level reports and dashboards and he worked as part of the group transitioning Development from a legacy mainframe system to a modern web-based fundraising platform, personally participating in multiple business process design teams and leading the data warehouse and report conversion team. He built the first warehouse data model for the new system in Business Objects and analyzed and set strategy for converting 5000+ legacy reports.
Patrick holds a B.A. in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan and can finally answer the question, "What do you do with a B.A. in English?"

Naim Falandino
Naim Falandino is a data scientist, software developer, and engineering manager with more than ten years of experience building analytical data pipelines and applications. As part of the founding team of Deepfield (acquired by Nokia in February 2017) his expertise in real-time analytics, machine learning, and information visualization is being applied to build products that solve the networking industry’s most complex problems in security, performance, and management.
Prior to Deepfield, Naim was a Data Scientist in Ford Motor Company's Systems Analytics Research Group, and Lead Software Architect at Covisint. He holds a MS in Information Science from the University of Michigan, and a BS in Computer Science from Michigan State University.
